Living My Life with Genital Herpes

I was diagnosed about a year ago with genital herpes. It was at my 6 week check-up after having my son. It felt like I had torn my stitches. My OB-GYN at the time had taken a swab and sent it to the lab. About 2-3 days later was when I received the call that changed my life forever. I was told over the phone that I had genital herpes. I felt like my life was over. I became extremely depressed and suicidal. I thought my beautiful baby boy had herpes. I cried for 2 weeks straight. I felt like I would never find someone that would love me.
My first outbreak was mild but with some burning, itching, and irritation when using the bathroom. I moved out of state to try to have a fresh start. Shortly after moving was when I found my wonderful fiancé. We began dating in October 2011. I told my fiancé about the herpes about 3 weeks after we began dating. That was one of the hardest things I had to do. I was 100% sure that he would leave me. Instead of leaving me, he told me that stuff like this happens. I knew then that I had found the man that I was meant to be with.
Since being diagnosed with genital herpes I have had a total of 5 outbreaks in a little over a year. They started out mild but have grown to become more intense and painful. When I have an outbreak I take Acyclovir 3 times a day for 5 days. Normally within 5 days, my outbreak is gone.
I want to say thank you to Gary. I found this website on Google while I was looking for pictures of genital herpes on a male. I am still extremely worried that my beautiful baby boy has it. This website has truly opened my eyes and has thoroughly explained the virus.
Thank you Gary!
