Dear Anonymous,First of all, I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I remember first getting the herpes news and feeling devastated afterwards. I began nurturing the feelings of depression and pain which eventually lead me into a life of isolation. That wasn’t a good thing.
Thank goodness I woke up one day and decided that I shouldn’t let this silly virus dictate how I’m going to live my life! I realize now that I have this virus in my system, I should just do something about it and move on. That’s when I started religiously taking my medication and pursuing relaxing hobbies like yoga and journaling. Almost immediately, I felt better about myself and found happiness in the process.
Wipe away your tears. Your life is definitely not over! You are still the same wonderful person worthy to love and be loved. Happiness is a mindset and if you believe you deserve to be happy (and you do!), you will achieve it!
Forget the stigma attached to the virus, ignorant people don’t know that herpes is only a minor skin condition that just presents some inconvenience from time to time. And if you’ve read the statistic, one in every 6 adults in the US has herpes, so you’re definitely not alone in this!
To answer your question, I have written an article that deals with giving
“The Talk”. It has tons of tips and advice on when and how to tell your partner about herpes. I recommend understanding what herpes is exactly so you can be well prepared to answer their questions.
Hope things improve for you soon!
